The artist was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. His early interest in art was mainly cultivated by his father, who sent him to study at the National School of Art in Montevideo at a very young age. In 1983, Alvaro Castanet went to Australia, where he lived for 20 years.
In his interview, Alvaro admitted that his "technical skills had reached their professional peak in Melbourne, Australia, where he spent several years focusing on developing his own style of painting. There were a lot of artists working in watercolors at a very high level, I was so inspired and concentrated, there simply was no way back! "
Since 1985, he has been holding solo exhibitions and over the past 30 years has received dozens of awards from various organizations such as the American Society of Watercolors, the Watercolor National Society (USA), the Shanghai Prize and others.
Alvaro Castagnet is fluent in Spanish, Italian and English and currently lives in Montevideo, Uruguay. In addition to the main lesson, he travels extensively, teaches, writes articles for international publications, judges art contests, publishes books and records video lessons.
